There are 2 steps to using Remote Access.
1- Setup your VPN connection.
VPN is the process of connecting into the Hansel network (e.g. your office) with an encrypted connection from a remote computer network (for instance, your home network).
The video above illustrates the connection process. Being connected to VPN will route your computer network traffic to the Hansel firewalls.
Most people really just want to access their work desktop. Please see below for the steps.
2- Connect using Remote Desktop (RDP).
Once VPN is connected, users will need to launch Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) on their computer in order to access their on-premise work computer.
* your work computer needs to be turned on, and left powered on after hours. If it is turned off, it will not wake up or startup just because you are trying to access it.
* the on-premise computer needs to have your username "white-listed" for Remote Desktop services locally. If your name isn't white-listed, only members of the network administration group will be able to access it.
Please open a Tech Support ticket to have your name authorized for RDP on the computer. If other people use your computer when you're away, RDP won't work.
